Exploring Chinese Zen and Postminimalism: A Journey Through Colours and Aesthetics:
Dive into the mesmerising world of art inspired by the serene beauty of Chinese palaces and the timeless charm of classical Oriental aesthetics. In this session, we'll explore the fusion of Chinese Zen philosophy with minimalism, focusing on the bold interplay of Klein blue and red. Through the lens of postminimalism, participants will learn to balance traditional cultural motifs with contemporary abstraction.
Guided by the evocative imagery of a lone bonsai tree set against geometric forms and vibrant colours, this workshop will encourage participants to experiment with harmony, reflection, and symmetry. Perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike, this class will help you master the art of blending tradition with modernity to create captivating works of art.
What you'll learn:
  • The principles of Chinese Zen and how to incorporate them into your artwork.
  • The use of Klein blue and red for visual impact and emotional resonance.
  • Minimalist techniques to emphasise form and space.
  • How postminimalism challenges and reinterprets traditional aesthetics.

Your finished artwork will be on a 30×40 stretched canvas, ready to hang or gift!

I’ve always had a creative streak, but my journey with A. M. Art Studio began almost serendipitously. After relocating to Melbourne, armed with over a decade of painting experience, I was invited by friends to teach them how to paint. During those early sessions, I discovered a profound passion for teaching. Their heartfelt reactions to what we created together revealed the transformative impact of art, not only as a personal expression but as a shared experience. That pivotal moment inspired me to dive deeper into my craft and ultimately led to the creation of my own art studio.
Teaching has since become one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. I find immense joy in empowering others to express themselves and solve creative challenges through art. There’s something truly magical about guiding someone to uncover their potential and witnessing their growth firsthand.
In my spare time, I immerse myself in learning new techniques and exploring different artistic styles, which I then incorporate into my teaching. This commitment to continuous growth has allowed me to share my passion with over 600 students across Melbourne.
I’m always seeking opportunities to evolve and connect with others, and I’m thrilled to continue this creative journey with the vibrant A. M. Art Studio community.
