I am Em and I'm an illustrator, designer and artist working from my home studio in Naarm. My Ngiyampaa/Ngemba, Dutch and Irish ancestry work alongside my personal occult and spiritual practices to heavily inspire and guide my work; full of nostalgic and familiar nature, spirit, magic, mystery and folklore that makes you feel warm, comfy and as if your inner child is being nurtured and cared for.
While being a creative all my life, I've been a full time artist for just over one year and my work has grown and adapted heavily during this time of exploration, experimentation and play. My personal work was born out of the idea of nature being a living and breathing entity that we are in constant reciprocity and symbiosis with, as well as all the magical spirits and energies we find when we take the time to notice them.
I'm a published kids book illustrator, with my debut title George the Wizard (written by Tony Armstrong and published by Hachette) released in September 2024, with the sequel, Maggie The Dragon coming out April 2025.
I am a facilitator of workshops and classes to kids, teens and adults and I love teaching drawing, character & scenery design, spell jar creation and other various arts and crafts. I've taught to hundreds of kids in schools, libraries, charity events and community spaces.
