Looking for fun things to do in Melbourne? Discover how to use your basic home sewing machine to create your very own thread drawings!
Your friendly teacher, Juliet will carefully guide you through every step of this fun and creative technique through demonstrations, tuition and practical support.
Select your chosen design from provided images and resources or bring your own ideas if you prefer.
Once you've got your design, you will learn the basics of freemotion embroidery including how to prepare your machine to free sew, how to transfer your designs to fabric, draw with the machine and add details and embellishments to your designs with threads and fabrics.
There will be plenty of opportunity for practice, trouble shooting, skill building and experimentation.
Plus, you can take home your own embroidered textile artwork, as well as some newfound skills!
Knowledge required
No prior knowledge or skills required. Suitable for complete beginners
 
What you'll get
  • All required materials are provided
  • Ideally you will bring your own sewing machine but there are some to borrow if needed
  • You will make an embroidered textile artwork to take home
  • Yummy afternoon tea provided
What to bring
Bring your own sewing machine if you have one. You will need an embroidery/darning foot. Let Juliet know in advance if you need to borrow a machine or would like more info on the foot.
 
Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea or hens party.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This experience would also be a unique gift for her, gift for mum or gift for couples.
