Join Melbourne artist Helene Oberman who will be returning to Duldig Studio to facilitate stand-alone drawing workshops, designed for beginners and those who would like to revisit their skills.
At this session, she will be focusing on the genre of portraiture and figure drawing, exploring techniques using pencil, charcoal, and pastel.
Tuition will be provided as well as opportunities for participants to work independently with their preferred medium.
At Duldig Studio surrounded by the many portraits and sculptures by Karl and Slawa Duldig will provide a wealth of inspiration for participants as well as drawing from live models.
Participants will enjoy a Viennese morning tea with tea, coffee, and plum cake, with tutelage in our beautiful gallery space.
Helene's experiences in the Arts include her work as a practicing artist exhibiting locally and internationally for more than 40 years. She has been the recipient of several art prizes including the Lucato Peace prize, Melbourne, and Arches Rives Award Melbourne and exhibited in solo and group shows in Australia and New Zealand. Helene has also conducted professional learning for educators, presenting at numerous conferences in Australia and internationally.
Helene has also worked as an arts critic on several regional interstate newspapers.
As a professional artist, Helene refers to herself as a plein-air artist, with a focus on the stories within the landscapes to which her paintings are a response. In recent years, she has become intimately familiar with the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne and Victorian landscape which has provided her with endless provocations for her painting, photography, and printmaking.
Helene has taught art painting and drawing at all levels including tertiary, TAFE, and adult education classes.

The Duldig family home was opened as a museum in 1996. In 2002, the association, The Duldig Gallery Inc. became incorporated as a public museum and art gallery to operate the Duldig Studio. It is a tax exempt charity and recognised as a deductible gift recipient institution under the Commonwealth Government’s Cultural Gifts Program. At this time a gallery space was added to the original house so that changing exhibitions could be mounted. Within the house a number of rooms are maintained as they were during the family’s residence. Karl’s original studio, with kiln, tools and work across all periods has been kept as it was left by the artist, and in the adjoining garden the bronze and terracotta sculptures also remain in situ.
