Cupcake Decorating Class for Kids: Unicorn Cupcakes

Experience the magic of our Unicorn Cupcake Kids Cooking Class!



8 to 16 years     3 hours Class size 6 to 10 guests     $70
In this cupcake decorating workshop for kids in Newcastle, children will decorate six unicorn-themed cupcakes. They'll be taught how to decorate their cupcakes from a friendly teacher and learn other decorating basics.
In this hands-on dessert class, children will learn the art of fondant modelling using specialised tools, fix piping tips to bags and master the skill of buttercream piping. Then they'll assemble their fondant creations onto the cupcakes for the finishing touch.
We provide all tools, ingredients and aprons, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
At the end, kids take home their creations, ready to share and enjoy with loved ones (please send containers large enough to hold 6 cupcakes).
Note: The buttercream is pre-prepared, allowing kids to focus on cupcake making and on the fun of decorating. Reserve a spot for your child’s sweet adventure!

Owner and Pastry Chef - Janet Newton
The passion for baking and cooking started in childhood for Janet Newton. The long Christmas holidays she spent baking with Czechoslovakian family friend, Irene. During this time the family was provided with an endless supply of traditional tarts, slices, biscuits and cakes.
The wonderful love of sharing food with family and friends was born out of these one on one cooking lessons and is the inspiration behind the opening of The Yellow Door Kitchen.
Janet trained as Pastry Chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school and has many years’ experience working in restaurants and patisseries. Her ability to combine flavours and her passion for baking is infectious and will ensure students are transported into a wonderful, creative world of cooking during her classes.
