2 hours Class size 6 to 20 guests

$85 - $95 ($95 per guest when you book for 6+ guests, $85/guest for 10+ guests)

This is where our business 'Calistags Plants' began. Taking plants that are 'epiphytic'; meaning they grow on treetrunks or bits of fallen wood in the wild and recreating that kind of habitat using just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of crafting pizzazz to create a 'living plant art' piece!
In this 2-hour workshop, be prepared to get your hands dirty! Learn about epiphytic plants as you work with wood to create a suitable 'mount' to attach your plant to. You'll be using a drill and some hardware to attach a hook. Then to removing your plant from its pot and preparing it for its new home, by recreating how and what it would grow in. Use a couple more tools and some added patience and nimble fingerwork to attach it securely to its base.
The end result will be a long-lasting 'living plant art' piece - to hang indoors or out, an eye-catching and unusual bit of interior or garden design, bound to be the envy of all your friends! With the right care and growing conditions, these pieces will last for years and years.

Hi, I'm Sophie, a passionate plant lover and creative, with a horticultural background. Presenting plants in new and dynamic ways is a very satisfying past time and where my business began as I started mounting epiphytic plants (that grow on trees in the wild) to pieces of decorative wood.
Over the years I have ventured into various other techniques; including kokedama and providing the tools for others to paint and personalise their own planters to take home with a new plant babe.
Earlier this year I opened a shop specialising in 'living art' and indoor plants. This space is based in St. Kilda and is where workshops take place.
Bringing people together & creating connection, community, and good vibes whilst inspiring imagination over plants is true soul food.
All are welcome!
