In this fun and hands on workshop you will experiment with a series of construction techniques to create a vessel from rope and stoneware.
You will be led by contemporary ceramicist Philippa Taylor, an artist who beautifully integrates the techniques of weaving with the purity of stoneware in her unique designs.
Taking a simple, pre-made (by Philippa) ceramic bowl, you will basket weave using an array of fibres and rope to produce a refined and sophisticated vessel / object. Sip on coffee and/or champagne as you learn basket weaving techniques and get an introduction into colour theory.
You will get the most out of Philippa’s years of teaching experience and she will be on hand to ensure that by the end of the class you master these skills. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to spend some time with one of Melbourne’s finest artists!
Depending on skill level, at the end of the class you will walk away with a sophisticated vessel or a nearly finished sophisticated vessel!
