Looking to cultivate your green thumb? Dive into the world of gardening with a Horticulturally qualified - Botanic Art Class in Sydney like no other. In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the art of growing plants in pots while learning essential foundational gardening skills in pruning, transplanting, propagation, plant care and design. Practical demonstrations on handling plants and re-potting overgrown garden pots will be provided as well as time for you to create your own garden masterpiece.
  • Immerse yourself in a diverse selection of over 100 plant varieties to choose from, allowing you to select your favorite plants for the class.
  • Enjoy working in a relaxed nursery setting perfect for learning and growing.
You will be learning the art of living sculpture... with natural materials and living plants. This is a great way to slow down and take time out from computer screens & busy schedules. The variety of materials provided, include pots, soil, drift-wood, stones, sea shells, and a wide diversity of plants, which might initially seem daunting, but the experience will leave you feeling accomplished and inspired.
At the end of the workshop, not only will you have gained practical skills and insights into the Age old 'Art of Gardening', but you’ll also have your very own Botanic Artwork to proudly display at home. Remember that classes may be postponed due to rain, please keep this in mind when planning your attendance.

  • Round white pot (16cm diameter).
  • Plants to fill your 16cm pot from our propagation nursery with over 100 plant varieties to choose from (these include succulents, bonsai starters, flowering annuals, hoyas, grasses, ferns, bulbs and fruit plants).
  • All associated materials, tools, gloves, potting soil included.
What to bring
  • Enclosed shoes, boots or sneakers please (no thongs or sandals).
  • Hat and raincoat/umbrella, sunscreen and water bottle.
  • Bring a cardboard box & plastic bag to leave in your vehicle for garden pot storage - as it may drip after watering.

Drive to the end of Wilson Ave, continue past the no through road sign, onto the gravel road, then take the first right hand turn & follow signs to The Garden Pot Workshop.

The Garden Pot Workshop is a plant nursery on Sydney's Northern Beaches, that encourages human connection with nature by promoting container gardening.
Botanical garden pots can be filled with a diversity of plants including, succulents, ferns, perennials, annuals, mosses, indoor plants, water-plants, even vegetables and small fruit trees.
Our hands on, practical gardening classes provide all plants, pots, associated materials and demonstrations required for you to create your own garden pots with guided supervision at our specialist 'Bonsai' style nursery, designed specifically for making gardens in pots. Our potting bench workstations are ergonomically designed making these gardening activities easy and comfortable.
At The Garden Pot Workshop, we provide practical demonstrations and discussions to show you how to build and maintain garden pots, including topics such as:
How to handle plants & seedlings
Mixing soil for garden pots
Garden pot drainage requirements
How to adjust sunlight & shade
How to pull apart and re-pot overgrown container gardens.
Pruning, training/directing the growth of plant life
Identifying some common pests and diseases
Watering your plants
Propagating new plants by division or cuttings & germinating seeds
About the Instructor:
Daniel Rosenbaum is a Horticulturalist, Designer & Sculptor with a background teaching Design at universities in Sydney (UTS, UNSW & TAFE).
Over the past 10 years Daniel has established the Garden Pot Workshop as a rare plant nursery & sculpture studio that makes innovative container gardens with a diversity of plant life.
Daniel gained inspiration to start the Garden Pot Workshop during Post Graduate studies into Ceramics at the Nation Art School in Sydney where he conducted research into Horticultural Therapy, Healing Gardens & 'Greening City' movements.
