The blues is a musical genre that originated in the Deep South of the USA by African-Americans. The harmonica has been an integral instrument in blues music due to its rich harmonic structure and subdued intensity.

If you love the sound of blues harmonica but don’t know where to start, this workshop is for you. The humble harmonica is fun, portable and easy to play!

Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience on the harp (gathering dust in that drawer) and want to learn some new techniques, this workshop with the legendary Captain Bluetongue will have you blowing the blues away.

Your very own blues harmonica will be included in the ticket price.

Instructional CD is available for purchase on the day for $15 (please bring cash).

The Blues Preachers are a favourite on the Australian festival circuit. Bluetongue is dedicated to the growth of Harmonica popularity. As the founder of The Bluetongue Harmonica School, Cap loves nothing more than teaching people to get started & introduce them to this amazing instrument known as “The Tin Sandwich, Gob Iron or The Humble Harp”.

We will inspire you to pick up that pen, paintbrush, hammer or sewing machine and flick the switch that will kickstart a whole new way of life.
Community values lie at the heart of our project. We collaborate with local artists and industry experts to teach classes and utilise local suppliers for any materials needed. We also provide a creative environment for emerging artists to produce and sell work, and meet like minded individuals. Work-Shop will be a space for everyone, with a rotating schedule of art shows, information nights on local issues and a whole range of events and community initiatives.
