Claire Cummack - Red Lane Studio

Claire Cummack - Red Lane Studio

In mid 2023, I finally decided to put my fear of failure to one side and just step out into the world I am so passionate about. It has taken me literally decades to finally give myself permission to follow my north star.

I had been dabbling ever so gently on the sidelines for a lifetime and with this commitment, Red Lane Studio was galvanised as the vehicle for spreading art, colour and most importantly, joy.
Art and colour is my passion as it can have such a positive influence in life and the combination of original paintings and fabrics, or natural fabrics with original block prints, the base of Red Lane Studio was laid down.
For me, the fact that I touch and make all of my product is important as it literally comes from my hands and heart to yours.
As a ‘joy spreader’, part of my passion is educating people in how to bring little drops of joy into life, and this includes learning new skills that are fun, accessible and easy to achieve good results.
For me, Block and Lino printing is the ultimate in self-expression. Bold colour and linework combine to produce strong and powerful designs that hold the essence and energy of the carver.
It is, I believe one of the most beautiful and meditative forms of self-expression. This, when combined with fabric, (which I adore) becomes the ultimate in fun and artistic expression.
Teaching abstract florals is another way to unlock the joy and self-expression and creativity which I believe is within everyone. Tapping into your innate colour palette in a simple and expressive way, I lead you through a series of simple steps to reveal your own abstract floral painting.
I also believe in ‘touchstones’ in life – those things that remind us of a particular time or feeling, and which form part of the framework. These I also think of as the ‘little drops of joy’. I offer the student in all my classes, an end product that they can take with them, to use or admire, to bring them back to the joy of the session and encourage more joy seeking and self-expression.
I hope you will join me in an adventure to your happy place.

Sarah Munnings was working in the corporate world of finance and when she was struck down by a devastating mystery illness. Tests, more tests, and months of trips to doctors led to the diagnoses of Fibromyalgia (a chronic pain condition). This led to Sarah to rediscover her creativity as her own personal form of rehabilitation and become a self-taught jeweller who developed a table top jewellery practice in her kitchen.
She now teaches others the amazing creations that can be made using copper, silver and brass. She uses traditional techniques of forging, soldering and texturing metal, and is passionate about using tools that are easily accessible so that her guests at workshops can continue their journey of discovery at home.
