REAL FLAVOURS, REAL STORIES:
A Journey from Caracas to Your Table
Hi, I’m Jen, the heart behind Margot & Montañez. My story starts in a little kitchen in Caracas, Venezuela, where my grandmother, Margot, first taught me that food is more than just sustenance—it’s happiness. She wasn’t just an amazing cook; she was a culinary rebel who believed the best recipes are those made with love and shared generously.
Growing up, I spent countless afternoons in her kitchen, mesmerized by her hands turning simple ingredients into magic. By the time I was twelve, I was baking alongside her, soaking in her stories and techniques. When Margot passed away at seventy-three, she left me not only her recipes but also her legacy—a love for creating food that brings people together.
That legacy became my compass as I traveled the world. From Venezuela to the US, Denmark, the UK, and now Australia, I carried Margot’s spirit with me—along with a suitcase packed with recipes and memories. I started with humble alfajores, but over the years, I’ve refined my craft, blending traditional South American flavors with the global influences I picked up along the way.
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
Teaching and sharing desserts is my way of keeping Margot’s spirit alive. There’s something magical about seeing someone’s face light up when they take their first bite of something I’ve made or when they nail a baking technique they thought was impossible. Through Margot & Montañez, I’ve had the privilege of teaching hundreds of passionate foodies, hosting team-building events for major companies, and even introducing Latin flavors to people who’ve never experienced them before.
WHY YOU'D WANT TO GET TO KNOW US
Did you know that every recipe I create has a story? Some are inspired by Margot’s traditions, while others are born from the flavors I discovered during my travels. One thing’s for sure: everything is made with authenticity and a touch of nostalgia.
I’m also proud to have been featured in local publications celebrating unique dessert businesses, and I’ve worked alongside some incredible mentors in the culinary world.
JOIN OUR STORY
When you bite into one of our alfajores or join one of our baking classes, you’re not just tasting a dessert - you’re becoming part of a story that started in 1916 and continues to grow today. I can’t wait to share it with you, and maybe even teach you a thing or two along the way.
Let’s create something delicious together. Whether it’s a dessert, a memory, or both, Margot & Montañez is here to make it special.
