In this fun ceramic course in Melbourne, you will create your own pottery by hand!
This course is for those who love to get creative when using clay. You will master a whole range of pottery techniques and the teacher will provide you with useful information, such as hand building, sculpting and casting.
Throughout the course, your pottery teacher will perform demonstrations and will assist and answer your questions when needed. You will have the opportunity to experiment and make your own piece.
This pottery course runs over five weeks, and at each session, you will learn and practice new skills and techniques.
Please note:
  • The cost of the five-week block is $190 per student.
  • The cost of the four-week block is $150 per student.
  • All of the materials needed will incur an additional cost and there is an additional firing cost of $8 per kilo.
  • You can buy a basic tool kit from us for $15.

What to bring
Working with clay can get messy so remember to wear old clothing. Bring an old towel and apron along as well.
 
Session repeats

This class series runs over 8 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

Marlize Myburgh obtained a degree in Jewellery Design from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Through her studies and beyond, Marlize proved that she had a special talent for design by attaining various awards, including the De Beers Shining Light Award and the AngloGold Riches of Africa prize.
In the summer of 2005, Marlize and her family relocated to Melbourne, where she continued her studies. In 2009 Marlize received a Diploma of Jewellery Design from Box Hill TAFE. During June and July of the same year, she completed an artists’ residency program at the Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris.
Marlize loves to experiment with different techniques and materials and in doing so, discovers new creative opportunities all the time. She also likes to play with the different textures of clays, surface applications and colour.
