Spend some time learning how to carve in a fun, yet relaxing environment. Catie and Steve will take you through the steps to create your very own wooden creation.
Choose from a spoon, a little animal or a small bowl; whatever it is, you will carve something you will be proud to show everyone.
Using hand tools, you will start with a 'blank' learning how to read the timber grain and carve safely with traditional carving tools. You will spend time talking about safety and learning different ways to finish wooden items.
There will be a variety of timbers available to choose from. Pick the blank that speaks to you. Timbers and shapes vary from workshop to workshop due to timber availability.
Please note: A minimum of 4 participants is required for the workshop to run. To book a child under 16 years, please contact us prior to discuss the booking. All children must have a paying adult in attendance to supervise.
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly class, however there are very sharp tools used for the entire class, so you will need fine motor skills to control your tools.
The class is held in a public space (pottery studio and coffee shop) where it can get quiet noisy.

Using traditional tools and methods for creating is important to us, and passing on these skills is our passion. We have always been the types of people who would prefer to make something with our hands than to buy off the shelf. Sometimes there is nothing better than making with your own hands.
We focus our workshops on the mindfulness of traditional making, and finding the technique that works for each person. Regardless if it is woodworking or leatherwork, we focus on teaching traditional ways to create. We find joy each time one of our workshop participants is beaming with pride when they step back and see what they have made.
Sustainability is also an important component of what we do. The timber we use is sustainably sourced from small, local timber suppliers. Our leather is sourced right here in Brisbane, where they have developed sustainable practices to produce Vegtan leather.
