Jump into some Messy, Muddy fun in our amazing Wheel Throwing Taster classes on the Southside of Brisbane.
While wheel throwing pottery is a super fun and exciting experience, it’s also a lot harder than what TikTok and YouTube make it seem. Thankfully, our skilled teachers are here to guide every step of the way to introduce you to the addictive hobby that is pottery.
In this class, you will learn entry-level wheel throwing techniques including:
  • How to centre your pieces
  • Making a hole and setting up the walls
  • Growing height into your piece
  • How to shape with a flare out or a rounded
It’s best to come into this experience with absolutely no expectations on what you will make. We'll guide you through step by step and help you to connect with the experience that is wheel throwing in a mindful way.
Rather than focusing so much on what you’ll produce in your first-ever wheel throwing experience, we set the intention to help you find a connection to clay that is both easeful, fun and rewarding. Without expectations, it carves the way for you to be totally mesmerized by clay and maybe even a little surprised at what you can make.
You will have 4 balls of clay to play with. Across the class, you might make vessels like:
  • Some small ramekin bowls
  • A handle-less mug
  • A small, shallow dish
These classes are suitable for ages 13+. We have a total of six wheels in our studio space and can cater to individuals or groups. We are also available for private events, and we welcome inquiries for your group bookings.
Add to your experience by coming early to enjoy some food and drinks from our cafe. Our 2024 classes are held inside Cream House Cafe! Book now for 2025 where we're relocating to a brand new, purpose built studio in Carina.
