What you'll do
In this workshop, you will learn how to create an artist book that hangs on the wall. It's a unique and creative way to repurpose imperfect prints, unresolved drawings, and decorative papers.What's an artist book? It's a 3-dimensional artwork that takes the form of a book, where both the design and content are part of the art itself. Waterfall books are a type of artist book that can be hung on a wall. The layers of papers which form the pages of the book have the effect of a 'waterfall', a dynamic cascade of imagery, colour, and pattern.Perfect for beginners, you'll craft two different versions of the Waterfall book format using glue and stitching. The techniques are simple, and you'll have lots of fun working out your design, trimming and tearing your papers for your book.

Cardboard, thread, and glue are supplied. You can also freely use our book making equipment like paper guillotine, cutting knives, glue brushes, bone folders etc.You'll take home two waterfall artist books in different styles, with the skills and knowledge to make more at home.

Sandra Pearce is a Brisbane/Meanjin based artist working with artist books, printed images and paper installations. Her art practice responds to ideas relating to nature-human conflicts, the impacts of urbanisation and the human manipulation of landscape.
Sandra has exhibited widely in both regional and private art galleries and has participated in several artist-in-residence programs including Curtin Springs (NT) and Cataract Gorge (TAS).
