What you'll do
Looking for fun things to do in Brisbane? Join this watercolour painting class and paint a magpie!In this class, we'll be painting one of these wonderful birds on lovely thick watercolour paper. We'll start with some exercises to test our colours and to practise our techniques, then Alex will guide you through painting the magpie from start to finish. All materials are provided for use within the class and the line art is provided to begin with if you aren't comfortable drawing.We'll have a short break in the middle, so please bring something along for lunch (a fridge and microwave are available to use). Tea and coffee are provided.This event is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. Alex will take you through the process, ensuring you have a wonderful time unleashing your creativity. So what are you waiting for? Let's grab our brushes and bring this iconic Australian bird to life on paper!Please note:
- Private classes: Choose from a Sunday or Tuesday class.
- This class is booked into the upstairs space at Hive Studios, which requires walking up two flights of stairs. If this is an issue for you, please get in touch, and I can see if the downstairs space is available instead. Thank you!

Your teacher
Based near Brisbane, Australia, Alex Louisa mainly works with oils, PanPastel and watercolour, but she also loves to experiment with new materials. Her work focuses on elements of the natural world that grab her attention. Birds have always been her favourite subject (even her first word was "bird!"), but she also enjoys creating interesting still life compositions and landscapes.Alex has exhibited through the US and Australia, and she teaches workshops to pass on her love of her favourite materials.
