Social Stitchers

Join us for a social stitching afternoon, where you can stitch together, share ideas, and make new friends!

2.5 hours Experience size 1 to 12 (public dates), 12 to 20 $10
This is a casual social group where you work on your own sewing project whilst chatting with other like-minded stitchers and enjoying our creative space.
Your sewing project could be:
  • Something you are currently working on or a new project
  • Upcycling
  • Mending and repairing (yes it’s more fun with company!)
  • Altering clothes
  • Slow stitching
  • Embroidery
  • Dressmaking
  • Bookbinding
Perhaps there's a 'UFO - unfinished object' lurking in the back of your craft cupboard you'd like a kick-start to finish?
Or maybe you bought a kit at a craft show many years ago but you've never started it?
Whatever it is, bring your project along to this social sewing class and connect with like-minded enthusiasts in a fun and friendly environment.
This isn't a workshop or tutored class on learning how to sew. But if you bring your own project, equipment and have basic sewing skills, we're sure someone in the group will be able to give you advice on any sewing-related issues you may have!

Please note: Public dates for this experience require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the experience.

Art from the Urban Wilderness is a large community art studio located at Hive Studios in Banyo, northside Brisbane/Meanjin.
The studio was founded by artist Sandra Pearce in 2021, and specialises in printmaking, papermaking, drawing, sketching and artist books. We offer workshops, courses, social art days, and artist talk events.
Our mission is to build an inclusive art community that nurtures creative authenticity, confidence and resilience. We also believe in the power of art to break the cycle of disaffection towards nature, to enrich lives and inspire care for the environment.
Our studio is also available for hire for creative events, meetings, gatherings, and art workshops.
