What you'll do
Join us for a fun and creative sip and sew workshop in Sydney, where you will learn how to sew by making your very own envelope cushion cover! In this hands-on class, you will discover the art of sewing while sipping and snacking, while your knowledgeable teacher guides you through everything you need to know to get started sewing. This class is perfect for beginners and your experienced teacher Jessie will guide you every step of the way, making you feel comfortable and confident in the process. You'll start the class by learning how to set up and thread a sewing machine, then go on to learn all the basics of sewing while making your cushion cover. All pattern pieces have been pre-cut in this class so that you can get straight to the fun part, sewing!Relax and enjoy the creative journey as you sip on some refreshments while sewing away. This workshop is a great way to unwind and tap into your artistic side, leaving you feeling accomplished and inspired.By the end of the class, you will not only learn a new skill but you will also have a beautiful cushion cover to take home and show off to your friends and family.
Knowledge required
This class is suitable for total beginners who have not used a sewing machine before. If you have some sewing experience you are most definitely welcome! You can get straight to sipping and have a look around the studio while the others thread their sewing machines. You can also make your cushion unique by adding a ruffle!
What you'll get
- All fabric, sewing supplies and equipment are included in the class. Machine hire is included in the class. Please do not bring your sewing machine if you have one, as this impacts the flow of the class. If you have a sewing machine you would like to learn on, please book a private sewing class as we are happy to help!
- There will be a range of fabrics to select from on the night, including lovely tapestry materials.
What to bring
This class is BYO drink, wine glasses and fridge are available in the studio for you to use. Tea and coffee are provided. If you like, please bring some snacks to enjoy while sewing also! This class is for adults only 18+.

Sip & Sew is a small boutique sewing studio located in Western Sydney. We host fun 'Sip & Sew' workshops, small group and private beginner sewing classes, and social sewing nights where all sewers and knitters are welcome! We want to bring sewing back in a fun and easy way. Sewing is not only a skill you will have for life, it's a creative outlet to express yourself and its amazing for your mental health and soul, oh and you can design groovy clothing that no ones else owns! We teach beginners all the sewing basics, from setting up the sewing machine for the first time, to detailed dressmaking, all while sipping on a cuppa! We have a core focus on sustainability, so almost all the fabric we have in the studio is sustainably sourced, and we love all things up-cycling and repurposing vintage linens!
