What is Boutique Sewing Kid's Camp? It is a well-deserved day off for parents during school holidays and a hard but fun learning-to-sew workday for kids. Boutique Sewing Camp runs from 9am till 3:30pm and takes only 4 people per group, so individual attention could be given to each kid. Bring your own lunch and morning fruits/snacks, just like for school. Tea and biscuits to share will be provided.
What will we make? We will make a skirt with an elasticized waist and a modern paperbag effect, and a scrunchie to match our new skirt.
Key features of the skirt include:
  • Wide elasticated ruffled waistband
  • Pull-on style
  • Removable fabric belt (optional)
  • Above-the-knee length
  • Variety of fabrics to choose from (fabric is provided)
Variety of colours and prints cotton fabric and threads are all provided for the workshop! At the end of the day, everyone will get a skirt and 1 or 2 scrunchies to take home. On top of this, kids will take home new and valuable skills of sewing and might start their new sewing hobby!
This camp is designed for beginners who love sewing or have never sewn before but wish to learn and would like to dive into the magic world of handmade. The minimum age is 10 years old.
Making the skirt and scrunchies will cover:
  • Calculating your own fit pattern and fabric consumption for the project.
  • Cutting fabric ready for sewing
  • Threading and setting up the sewing machine for beginners
  • Basic sewing machine stitching
  • Fabric pressing and steaming
Boutique Sewing Camp includes all materials needed to complete your skirt and scrunchies, which includes a variety of cotton fabrics to choose from, wide elastic tape, and threads. Sewing machines and all tools to use are also provided. Fabric selection for your skirt will happen at the beginning of the camp day and is subject to fabric stock and availability. The pictures presented here are just for example; the fabric you see might not be the fabric you get.
