Rusting on Paper is a dyeing technique that creates beautiful, earthy tones on paper ranging from vibrant oranges to rich browns, greys, and even near-black. This process relies on chemical reactions using solutions of tea bags, ferrous sulphate (iron sulphate - garden supplement), and/or caustic soda (sodium hydroxide).
The results vary dramatically based on the concentration of solutions, the type of paper used, and the techniques used to immerse the paper into the solutions.
This is an easy and fun process that produces amazing results!
You'll go home with a stack of decorated papers that you can use for a variety of craft and art projects including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, card making, and more.
As we are dealing with chemicals, we will be following strict safety protocols including covered footwear, aprons, and rubber gloves. You must wear covered footwear like sneakers to the workshop, no sandals, etc.
