2.5 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests

  $250 (Afterpay available)

Join Jeweller Laura Armstrong in her West End studio for a hands on wax carving workshop.
You will learn different techniques to carve, embellish, texture or engrave your ring. It will then be cast in your chosen metal using the lost wax casting technique.
Each class has no more than six students, so you will receive plenty of group and one-to-one guidance throughout the workshop. No prior experience is required!
Once your piece is back from the casters, it will be polished for you before it’s ready for collection, lead time is approximately 2 weeks. You can also contact us to book a 1.5hr one person jewellery finishing workshop for $250 where you will learn to cut off the casting sprue and various polishing and finishing techniques to make your own jewellery.
Tea is provided. If you're attending a Thursday night class, there are great restaurants under the workshop venue for before/after the class. If you're attending the Saturday morning class you can get the best coffee or breakfast at Cafe Disco.
Note: Sterling Silver casting is included in the workshop fee (up to 8 grams). The cost for casting more than 8 grams of Sterling Silver or casting in gold instead will be advised based on the weight of your finished wax mould.

I have been running my Brisbane based jewellery label since completing a Bachelor of Fine Art at QCA in 2016. I make small ready-made collections and custom pieces of jewellery from recycled Sterling Silver and Gold, and ethically sourced gemstones.
I find a lot of joy in carving handmade jewellery and I love sharing the skills with others.
