Looking to learn a new skill and get creative? Look no further than our exciting throwing class in Canberra!
In this workshop, Amy from Deep Blue Ceramics will guide you through the art of pottery making on the wheel. Over the course of two days, you'll discover how to transform a simple blob of clay into stunning pottery pieces such as cups, plates, and bowls. You'll also learn how to trim a foot ring, adding that professional touch to your creations.
Throughout the class, you'll be working with clay, learning the techniques and intricacies of wheel throwing. Don't worry if you're a complete beginner, as this workshop is designed with you in mind.
Amy will ensure you feel comfortable and confident, providing gentle guidance every step of the way. You can expect a supportive and uplifting environment, where mistakes are embraced as valuable learning experiences.
By the end of this hands-on class, you'll not only have created multiple clay pieces but also gained the confidence to continue your wheel throwing journey. Your fired pieces will be ready to collect three to four weeks after the class.
Please note:
  • Glazing is not included in this intensive course. The glazing process will take place after your clay pieces have dried and been bisque fired. To complete your pottery journey, we recommend booking our Beginners Glazing Workshop at your convenience. It's the perfect opportunity to add personality and colour to your creations.

Amy is hands and heart behind Deep Blue Ceramics.
Devoid of creativity for much of her previous professional life she fell head first into Ceramics; learning, making, sharing and teaching, all after falling in love with a handmade mug purchased at a market.
Amy's classes are welcoming and supportive, beginner friendly one of experiences through to term length courses for intermediate potters. She loves to share #clayplay with individuals and private groups alike!
At Deep Blue Ceramics we're deeply passionate about the environment and social justice issues and strive to make a positive impact wherever we can.
