Learn how to hand build a ceramic lantern

2 hours 15 mins Class size 1 to 6 guests

$100 (Afterpay available)

Learn how to create your own ceramic Chinese lantern using clay hand-building techniques in this pottery class in Adelaide!
In this class, you will be using our ice clay, which is one of our favourites as it fires to a white stone smooth color, You will learn how to create your lantern with a cover, and your friendly tutor will walk you through the process of design, decoration and colouring of your own piece, using a unique balloon technique.
In an atmosphere full of empowerment and positivity, we don’t aim for perfection, although we promise you will surprise yourself, and be extremely proud every time you look at your piece. This class is perfect for beginners and intermediates.
You can pick up your piece three weeks after the class when it will be fired, food-safe and ready for you to use.
Please note:
  • In case of any new COVID-19 restrictions affecting community centres, ticket fees can be used to book a different session.

Join Urth Clay Studio in a community-based workshop to learn about the therapeutic effects of pottery.
Owner Zein Akkad moved to Australia from Syria in 2014 and not long after she discovered the practice of pottery and the therapeutic effects clay can have.
The process of pottery reinforced her empowerment and confidence and helped her restore her mental health through mindfulness.
