Looking for fun things to do in Brisbane? Mosaic making is addictive - be warned and excited by the prospect!
Your teacher, Aly, started her mosaic journey over 20 years ago when she was gifted a small kit and told to 'smash it out' -- she discovered her very own art therapy!
In this introductory class, you will learn the basics of mosaic making. Your teacher will give you some interesting background to this ancient art and guide you through the basics of creating your own mosaic piece.
Given the pot needs time to dry we will not complete the grouting process but you will leave class with the information on how to complete your pot. You will also be given the materials you need to finish.
You will leave the class with the beginnings of a unique piece and the knowledge and simple skill set to continue your creative journey with mosaic.
Mosaics are for everyone, old and young, it's all about texture, colour and fun!

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 5 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

I am former event manager, university administrator and (going back several decades) a high school teacher. I am now enjoying teaching Mosaics and engaging in all forms of creativity. I have been creating art my entire life and I'm now enjoying sharing my skills and knowledge. I used to teach workshops with Workshop Brisbane and have recently started classes again - I'm really excited to be returning to the world of smashing!
I have taught hundreds of students the fundamentals of mosaics and I would love to share my knowledge and enthusiam with you!
I also paint and draw when not spending time with my beautiful Golden Retriever Stella, rescue Cocker Spaniel Bob and my Russian Blue cats - Shiraz and Ziggy.
I am currently expanding from my mosaics and exploring a broader visual realm - drawing, painting etc. I love the freedom that comes with expressing oneself. I love losing time in creating and I love sitting back and enjoying what I create.
