What you'll do
Looking for a fun activity to try in Brisbane? Join our pottery class at Wesley Taylor Art Studios! In this beginner-friendly workshop and art class, you'll learn the ins and outs of hand building clay while you sip on your favourite beverage. During the class, you'll have the opportunity to hand build a beautiful coil mug using stoneware clay. This mug will then be fired in the kiln, and after two weeks, you'll return for a ceramic painting session to add your personal touch. Once the painting is complete, your creation will go through a second kiln firing for the perfect finish.Our professional pottery studio provides all the materials you need to create your unique masterpiece. You'll learn basic skills like hatching, shaping forms, and sticking materials together. Our experienced artist will guide you through the process with a demo and offer one-on-one assistance as needed. By the end of the class, you'll have some amazing pieces to take home and display with pride.What makes our class special is that we provide the full service experience. The cost of the class includes all the necessary materials, as well as our kiln firing services. This means you'll get a second painting session and your pieces will undergo a full ceramic pottery firing.Make a second mug in the same course only additional $15 for the final firing processYour safety is our priority, and we have implemented a Covid Safe Plan to ensure social spacing. While we no longer provide aprons, you can purchase them in advance if needed. Many of my paintings focus on landscapes, surreal, animals and people. North Queensland is a particular favourite, and you'll see the influence of coral seas and mountain landscapes throughout my artwork.
