Learn the basics of playing chess in this hands-on interactive class

Learn the basics to get started playing chess with this beginner's class that combines practical teaching and theory!
Suitable for both complete beginners and those with fundamental knowledge of play, you will learn the rules, basic tactics and strategies. Take-home worksheets will be given on select weeks.
Your teacher, Jacob, is a qualified competitive chess teacher. He's been playing competitive over-the-board chess for the past eight years, and he has a classical rating of 1964 which ranks him as 40th in the state currently.
Jacob is experienced with teaching complete beginners through to preparing students to attend interschool competitions. He's patient and encouraging to his students.
You will have fun also playing and learning with like-minded chess beginners, both kids and adults. This class is based on skill level, not age! Everyone is welcomed to learn the wonderful world of chess.
Complete beginners, please come to class 15mins earlier at 1.15pm. Please message us to let us know you're a complete beginner.
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly. Suitable for six-year-olds and above to adults.
