Discover the ancient Japanese technique of stencil dyeing, also known as Katazome and create beautiful fabric pieces to take home.
In this class, you'll learn the basics of Katazome dyeing, from fabric preparation to using stencils and applying resist paste. You'll also have the opportunity to dye your fabric in a natural indigo vat.
This workshop is designed for beginners. Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step, ensuring you feel confident and inspired to make your own unique designs.
All the necessary materials will be provided, including dye materials and a selection of scarves, tea towels, or a linen bag for you to choose from. If you'd like to bring additional items, lightweight cotton or natural fabrics work best.
During the workshop, you'll also have access to stencils that will help you create intricate patterns and designs. The combination of dyeing and printmaking techniques will open up a world of creativity and self-expression.
