If you’re curious about what it feels like to shape clay spinning in your hands but not yet convinced on signing up for a five week course, this is the experience for you!
Our two-hour pottery wheel intro class are ideal for those with zero experience who want to give the wheel a go! It's the perfect amount of time to understand the foundations of wheel throwing and the ceramics process.
This class includes approximately 15 minutes of studio introduction, getting to know clay and explaining the pottery process and wheel demonstration, 90 minutes of wheel time and 15 for cleaning up your wheel and photo opportunities at the end of your class.
The wheel is a fun, mindful and humbling teacher, unlikely to be mastered it in just a single session. We provide unlimited balls of clay for unlimited attempts. The more you try the better you get!
Unfortunately firing of your creations is not included in this experience, but it is when you come back for our five week wheel course.
Looking for a private pottery class for team building, a hens party, birthdays or other celebrations? Check out our private pottery class.
Or if you're looking for a pottery wheel warm-up class we now have a new clay and sip hand building class. Typically students that have done a hand building class develop an understanding and sensitivity to the clay making them a little more prepared for a wheel throwing class.

Amy is hands and heart behind Deep Blue Ceramics.
Devoid of creativity for much of her previous professional life she fell head first into Ceramics; learning, making, sharing and teaching, all after falling in love with a handmade mug purchased at a market.
Amy's classes are welcoming and supportive, beginner friendly one of experiences through to term length courses for intermediate potters. She loves to share #clayplay with individuals and private groups alike!
At Deep Blue Ceramics we're deeply passionate about the environment and social justice issues and strive to make a positive impact wherever we can.
