In this course, students will immerse themselves in the art of using traditional hand tools to craft beautiful creations. Discover the intricate techniques behind Shinto rasps, hand saws, spokeshaves, drawknives, hand drills, ratchet braces with centre point drill bits and various sanding paper grits.
Through our eight week term sessions, they'll gain the skills and confidence to handle these tools with ease and precision.
The first woodwork project is making a mallet, which is an essential hand tool for every woodworker.
General guide based on school years as follows:
  • Year 5 - stress stone, sword, carved animal
  • Year 6 - bowl, spoon, jewellery box
