Have a bit of the pottery bug or just looking for a weekly relaxing morning or fortnightly evening out? This hand building course is a relaxing way to pick up a few pottery basics!
We won't be making anything too serious and will suit beginners looking to make a few more pieces over four weekly or fortnightly sessions.
This course is essentially a clay and sip that is split over four classes. We will make a few key pieces and explore some glazing options including underglazing, colouring with slip, sgraffito and have a go at mixing a few glaze combinations for some interesting pieces.
We will still learn in a relaxing environment similar to the clay and sip classes and will listen to a bit of the BeeGees and Stevie Nicks as we learn the gentle and slow process of hand building with clay.
Your experienced teacher will guide you through the steps of working with clay and learning some basic skills. You'll be working with a variety of clays to make a few pieces including two plates, a large bowl, spice bowls, cups and saucers.
Classes run weekly for 3 weeks and then there is a one week gap before the final glazing session. 4 classes in total.

A small pottery studio based in the Northern Gold Coast. All pieces are handmade and original. I try not to take work too seriously. Clay is a fickle medium and you end up learning you have to run with the punches. It can be a rollercoaster of highs and huge fails and that is what makes it so appealing! You never know what you are going to get! I offer small bespoke hand building workshops in an informal and fun environment.
