Are you looking for a group activity to run as part of a Christmas party, corporate event, conference, wedding or birthday party? Learn finger painting for your next event!
This activity is compact and can be run in a small space. Non-painters get involved and you end up with a single awesome, large painting.
Is your group sceptical of arty activities? Not a problem. Finger painting is non-threatening and with some other simple time-honoured artistic techniques, you will surprise yourself with what you accomplish in just a couple of hours.
Your teacher has helped thousands of non-painters create unique paintings, and in this hands-on class, your group will work together to paint its very own large-scale arty as hell painting!
We can run this activity so many different ways depending on the space we have and your desired outcomes. We can all come together around a blank canvas and come up with a way to draw and paint the painting then jump in and go for it.
Conversely, we can come up with a more complex scenario with the larger group broken down into smaller groups each responsible for a different aspect of the painting and no one having any idea how the whole image is meant to look.
Your teacher can come to your venue, be it a home, conference centre or workplace. Alternatively, you can use our venue which can hold a maximum of 20 painters.
We encourage you not to undervalue the resulting painting. Your group will hand paint an impressionistic painting that will not look out of place in any corporate setting, and your group will think to themselves, 'I did part of that' every time they walk past it.
With the guidance of the right artist, anyone can make awesome art.
Your teacher has run this activity with over 50 painters, all contributing to one large painting. If you have larger groups, we can of course do multiple large paintings to give more people access to the paintings.
Please note:
If you are thinking of getting creative with how we break down your group to paint this painting, please don't share any of the photos on this listing with the broader group. It is often more challenging and fun if none of the painters, or as few as possible, have seen the painting we want to paint.
Whilst your teacher will supply gloves and plastic aprons, we will be using artist-quality paints which once dry, will stick to fabrics. This activity is not a good one to complete on carpets, or around surfaces that have a lot of fancy or expensive fabrics.
The duration of this class can be tweaked to shorter or longer depending on how you choose to structure the class, the makeup of the group etc.
The photos show a completed finger painting of approximate size 1mx2.4m of coy fish, along with a mock-up of a possible painting based on a Mardi Gras theme.
Once complete this painting will need a space of its own for two to three days so that it can dry enough to be moved to its permanent home. It is our experience that most venues have some place well out of the way to let the painting dry for later removal.
The delivery of the completed painting to your location will be at your expense.

Knowledge required
Absolute beginner-friendly.

What you'll get
  • One large canvas/wood panel, finger-painted to perfection. The size of the painting depends on the size of the group, but will generally be a minimum of 1200x2400mm.
  • All art supplies necessary to complete the painting.

  • Plastic aprons.
What to bring
Please wear clothing you don't mind getting paint on. Mishaps are rare, but a fine suit is no match for a little paint.

Stewart has been running fun and easy art classes for many years in Brisbane, whilst working as a full time artist. His studio, Montana Art Project', was a victim of COVID, it got a little unfashionable to sit in rooms with groups of strangers.
Stewart splits his days between organising and running paint and sip classes, painting murals commercially, painting artworks for sale online and in a gallery, online selling t-shirts and prints, or styling and running his Airbnb's.
"My very first sale through a gallery was a watercolour of two naked women, actually one was wearing a string of pearls from memory, dancing the tango. Then I sold ink and watercolour paintings of different dog breeds. Now I am more likely to be found in a pub painting a large mural, in my studio painting in acrylic to make into prints, or running paint and sip classes." Stewart Shuker.
I think I am the luckiest person in the world, helping people like you discover your creative side and skilling you up to do even more arty stuff.
It's a proven fact - creativity makes us happy!!
