Take in the aromas of simmering Arborio rice as you learn the secrets of creating the perfect risotto that’s anything but tasteless or gluggy.
You’ll be guided through the importance of technique for achieving a creamy consistency, from toasting the rice to the gentle stirring that brings out its rich, velvety texture from every grain.
While the risotto simmers, we’ll also prepare a delicate and moist orange and almond cake, blending the sweetness of orange with the goodness of almonds. It’s then time to gather around the table to enjoy your creations with a glass of vino!
You’ll leave having gained a new culinary skill and the confidence to recreate the magic of risotto in your own kitchen, discovering its endless versatility.

Owner and Pastry Chef - Janet Newton
The passion for baking and cooking started in childhood for Janet Newton. The long Christmas holidays she spent baking with Czechoslovakian family friend, Irene. During this time the family was provided with an endless supply of traditional tarts, slices, biscuits and cakes.
The wonderful love of sharing food with family and friends was born out of these one on one cooking lessons and is the inspiration behind the opening of The Yellow Door Kitchen.
Janet trained as Pastry Chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school and has many years’ experience working in restaurants and patisseries. Her ability to combine flavours and her passion for baking is infectious and will ensure students are transported into a wonderful, creative world of cooking during her classes.
