Looking for a new hobby? Or have an idea of something specific you want to make on the pottery wheel? This is the experience for you.
While our taster wheel throwing classes are perfect to get a feel for the clay and have fun experimenting with the skill that is wheel throwing, these 4-week courses allow you the foundations needed in order to produce some of those specific pieces you have in mind.
What you'll do:
As adults, we’re very hard on ourselves to pick up something and be good at it on the very first go. This 4-week course takes the pressure off that and gives you time with the skill that is wheel throwing pottery. Despite how it looks on YouTube and TikTok, it’s a pretty challenging craft. Thankfully our amazing wheel teaching team have your back and will encourage you to create something you can be proud of.
Across 4 consecutive weeks, this 4-week course includes:
  • 2x Wheel Throwing sessions (1x skill session, 1x creation session)
  • 1x Hand-building session (to alter, add handles and refine)
  • 1x Glazing session
$486 worth of value but you save 20% when booking for the course!
What you might make:
  • Week 1: Is all about learning the foundations of wheel throwing. We’ll take you through the taster workshop skills and guide you towards how to create some of those pieces you have in mind.
  • Week 2: Using the skills you learnt in week 1, you create a project that you want to make.
  • Week 3: During this class you’ll alter, decorate and add handles to your pieces. Fun fact: Handles are best added during the leather hard phase after a day of drying. That’s why this course is perfect if you’re goal is to make a handled mug.
You will have 1.5kg’s worth of clay to play with, which you can split up for your project in a way you choose. Across the class, you might make vessels like:
  • Cereal bowls and serving bowls
  • A set of handled mugs
  • A side plate or a small shallow dish
  • A vase
These courses are perfect for beginners, suitable for ages 13+. We have a total of six wheels in our studio space and can cater to individuals or groups. We are also available for private events and we welcome enquires for your group bookings.
Add to your experience by coming early to enjoy some food and drinks from our amazing canteen. Our studio space is located on the Southside of Brisbane in Carina.
There's so much amazingness here!
Note:
  • To gain the full experience, it is recommended that you commit to the entire six weeks before signing up. If you can't make a date for any reason, we will try our best to fit you in for a make-up session as best as we can, however it's not guarantied.
