Are you fascinated by the vintage allure of film photography?
Ready to immerse yourself in the art of capturing moments through the lens of a classic 35mm camera?
Then look no further. My upcoming 35mm Film Photography Workshop will be a wonderful journey into the realm of analog photography.
In an era dominated by digital cameras and iPhones, there’s a unique allure to taking photographs when shooting with a 35mm film camera. Join me for a memorable experience where you’ll learn the art and craft of traditional 35mm film photography.
Each participant receives one roll of 35mm Colour Film and one roll of B&W Film, PLUS processing, scanning and delivery of your images by Lazarus Film Lab Gold Coast. Plus we also have a model for the colour session.
Yep, this is all INCLUDED in the price.
I offer a hands-on approach that caters to photographers of all skill levels. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned shooter looking to rekindle your love for analog photography, there’s something for everyone at my film photography workshop.
The 35mm Film Photography Workshop Format:
Part A 10.00am-12.00pm
We’ll begin by getting to know your camera – before we even put a roll of film in. Because every 35mm film camera is different, so we’ll spend time getting to know yours. This is vital if you’re going to be able to focus and expose your shots correctly.
Next we’ll get familiar with setting the aperture, setting the shutter speed, ISO and how to focus manually. Another key point to explore is how to get the exposure correct using the inbuilt light-metre in your camera. There is far less tech involved with these cameras (yay!) but it’s important to understand how to use it.
DSLR users will be familiar with these terms, but the process (although very simple) is very different on a film camera. Together we’ll have a look at the different film types and the looks they produce in analog photography, both colour and black and white. And then comes the fun part – we load the film and get shooting.
Part B: COLOUR 12.30pm-2.30pm
This is a location shoot with our colour film.
The location around COHORT is like having purpose-built sets for us. To help us we’ll also have a model so we can really maximise the location and create some extraordinarily vibrant portrait images. I’ll also set a few tasks to explore other options and ideas to assist in shooting some abstract, still-life and landscape images.
Part C: BLACK & WHITE 3.15pm – Sunset
Our second location will be all about form, texture and contrast shooting with our Black & White film.
Just like the colour session, I’ll set you some tasks and shoot ideas to explore but this time with a greater emphasis on light and the impact it has on the subject. Our location at The Spit is also going to offer some beautifully moody landscape imagery as well.
My 35mm film photography workshop isn’t just about technical skills; it’s about fostering creativity and expression. Discover how shooting film encourages mindfulness and intentionality in every photograph you take.
Don’t miss this opportunity to step into the world of 35mm film photography. Reserve your spot today and embark on a journey of creativity, nostalgia, and endless inspiration.

I’m a passionate photographer and workshop creator, and I love nothing more than seeing people connect with their cameras and with photography.
Over the past few years I’ve helped hundreds of photographers achieve those ‘light-bulb’ moments at my beginners photography course. It’s that wonderful feeling when you understand what all those numbers, buttons and dials mean, and how you can now use them to be able to create the images you’ve always wanted.
Because once that happens it starts to get really fun. And it’s all backed up with a comprehensive set of notes from the day as well.
My journey in photography has taken me all round Australia and overseas.
My work has featured in numerous campaigns for many leading Australian brands as well as leading celebrities and athletes like Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy, Ricky Ponting, Hawthorn AFL, Shelley Craft, Ashley Hart, Lleyton Hewitt, The Wallabies, Master Chefs George Calombaris, Olympic basketballer Liz Cambage, Bondi Vet Chris Brown,  Olympic Gold medallist Sally Pearson and All Blacks captain Kieran Read. My favourite campaigns are Swisse-Scudera Ferrari campaign shoot in Maranello Italy; Ricky Pointing in Mumbai, India; Dutch Olympic and World Champion Seed-skater Sven Kramer in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
That said, my favourite thing in the world is to be in a city I’ve never been to, with just my camera in my hand. I know you know that feeling too and I look forward to seeing you at one of my workshops soon.
