Eco Dyeing Workshop: Concertina Book

Learn the technique of eco dyeing using windfall leaves and vegetable peels to print a single page artist book!

3 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests

$120 (Afterpay available)
Join us at Forager's Nest Art Space for this beginner-friendly introduction to eco-dyeing! Over the course of three hours, your tutor, Natalie, will guide you through the fascinating process of dyeing onto paper and the symbolism behind it.
This workshop is perfect for those who are interested in sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. This totally eco-friendly technique uses no inks or chemicals, where the colours are drawn directly from the leaves using heat and pressure.
You will get to experiment with a variety of natural materials and learn how to create unique patterns and designs. All materials will be provided on the day so simply bring your enthusiasm!
The space is air-conditioned and as you create, you'll be provided with some small nibbles, tea and coffee. Unwind, socialise and tap into your creativity in a relaxed and supportive environment.
At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your stunning, one-of-a-kind book to keep (or give as a gift), as well as the skills and knowledge to continue making at home!

Natalie Billing is a Queensland artist, raised in Blackall and now based in Brisbane. Her artwork focuses on memory. Trained as a sculptor she has been exhibiting nationally since 1994. Since 2011 Billing has been focusing on eco dyeing, creating unique prints on both fabric and paper with leaves and foliage found in her local area. Each of these one-of-a-kind works is a memory of a place and time, and truly an “eco-friendly” form of art.
