Drypoint Printmaking Workshop

Create a small series of beautiful prints using this easy non-toxic etching technique.

4 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests

$165 - $185 (Afterpay available)
(Earlybird price of $165 applies if you book into a public session 30+ days ahead, otherwise $185 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $165 for 2+ guests. $150 per class surcharge applies for private classes)
Explore the simple medium of drypoint intaglio printmaking, where lines are scratched into a plastic plate to create an image for printing.
You’ll create a small edition of prints from your own drawing, copyright-free internet image, or photograph.
Can't draw? No worries! The drypoint plates are transparent so you can just trace your image onto your plate.
You'll learn:
  • the fundamentals of intaglio printmaking including inking and wiping of plates
  • how to enhance your print using chine colle (collage of rice paper whilst printing) and hand-colouring with watercolours
  • how to create and print drypoint plates at home with kitchen equipment and recycled materials
No chemicals are used in this process - we use Akua Intaglio inks which are soy-based and water wash-up. We’ll be printing with A6 size plates onto artist-quality printmaking papers.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
