Looking for unique things to do in Canberra? Join artist Julie Ryder in an introduction to the cyanotype process - a fun way of creating photographs without a camera!
Commencing with a brief history of the technique and the woman who pioneered it, we will then use a variety of natural and man-made materials to create unique blueprints inspired by our natural environment, using the sun as our light source.
This express two-hour class gives you the opportunity to try the photogram technique using pressed leaves, flowers, seaweeds, grasses and seeds as well as exploring photo negatives. These prints are revealed by the sun to produce classic blue and white images.
You will experiment with this hands-on method using two to three paper prints before working on your DIY fabric project in an embroidery hoop to frame and display proudly in your home!
Please note that a minimum of 5 people are required to run this workshop. In the event that number is not reached 2 days prior to the workshop it will be cancelled.
Knowledge required
This express workshop is for complete beginners who want to have a go at the cyanotype process. It is a fun and informative class to do by yourself, to do with a friend or to gift to someone special.

What you'll get
You will get three to four paper prints to take home.
