Continuing Wheel Throwing Course

Practice wheel throwing in a fun and relaxing space!

4 x 2.5 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests

$380 (Afterpay available)
So, you’ve done your beginner wheel throwing course, either with us or another studio, and now you just need some more time on the wheel to dial those skills in.
This course is perfect for those who:
  • You know how to centre but need to work on your consistency.
  • You know how to throw a cylinder form and shape it into a cup or bowl but need to finesse your pressure and hand positions.
  • You know how to make a plate but struggle to get it looking just right.
This four week block of continuing wheel throwing classes will allow you the time and space to practise what you want to practise.
Amy from Deep Blue Ceramics will be there to give suggestions for refining your technique and support to develop your own style or achieve a production goal (ever wanted to make your own dinner set?!).
This listing is not a structured course with a progressively challenging curriculum, like our beginner or our intermediate wheel throwing courses. Your teacher will help all members of this class wherever they are at, with whatever they wish to work on.
That’s why it’s necessary that you’ve done a beginner wheel throwing course (not a single try the wheel class) before joining this one. So you can just relax and have free time to explore your creativity under the guidance of your lovely teacher.
By the end of the class, you can leave with your own handmade pottery, as well as some foundational new skills.
Please note:
  • This continuing wheel throwing course includes the clay that you’ll throw with, although you are welcome to BYO or purchase from us if you’d prefer to work with a specific type of clay.
  • This four week course does include bisque firing but does not include glazing. Your bisque-fired work can be collected 3-4 weeks after your last session. You are very welcome to join a glazing class or glaze your work in your own time and utilise our kiln firing service.
  • Public dates for this class require at least 5 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
Add-on available for this class
  • Take Home Clay Play Kit ($40)
You can add these when you book (optional).

Knowledge required
You must have completed a beginner wheel throwing course.

What you'll get
  • All the clay, use of wheels, and tools needed to continue your wheel throwing.

What to bring
  • Wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit grubby.
  • Bring a hand towel.

Amy is hands and heart behind Deep Blue Ceramics.
Devoid of creativity for much of her previous professional life she fell head first into Ceramics; learning, making, sharing and teaching, all after falling in love with a handmade mug purchased at a market.
Amy's classes are welcoming and supportive, beginner friendly one of experiences through to term length courses for intermediate potters. She loves to share #clayplay with individuals and private groups alike!
At Deep Blue Ceramics we're deeply passionate about the environment and social justice issues and strive to make a positive impact wherever we can.
