What you'll do
Making wire armatures for your creations is a skill set that will take your needle felting and art to the next level! Join Dianne Conroy for this hands-on Sydney workshop and learn how to make this adorable Christmas decoration.In this workshop, we'll use images of a reindeer in order to understand how to construct a correctly proportioned wire armature. Building a wireframe gives strength to your work and makes it bendable to pose. Once the armature is made we will look at how to start adding pipe cleaners, core wool, and top cost to bring the reindeer to life.What you'll learn:
- How to make a three-dimensional wire armature so that your work can be positioned with confidence and will be sturdy and strong.
- Basic body shaping, proportions and how to get a realistic shape to the reindeer.
- Knowledge of the right wools to use for this project and the right needles.
- Why we use pipe cleaners.
- How to work with core wool.
- How to blend and work with wool roving.

Beginner-friendly.

Your teacher
Dianne studied needle felting in Japan while living there for 16 yrs with some of Japanese finest needle felting teachers. Felting became a passion after years of practice. Dianne moved back to Brisbane and opened Wild Woolly Heads taking commissions for miniature replicas of peoples’ dogs, and large interior design trophy heads. Inspiration comes from her dog, garden and travels.
