Let’s dive in.

Day 1: Discover vibrant colours and hidden gems tucked in Perth’s CBD

Head out on a street art and small bar tour at sunset

Street art and small bar tour

Experience Perth on a whole new level with an exciting street art and small bar tour in the heart of Perth! Head to Forest Place (if you see the big green sculpture, you know you’re there) and meet your local guide from Oh Hey WA. They will take you through some of the city's most vibrant laneways where you can admire the colourful murals and graffiti painted by local and international artists.

The tour doesn't stop there! After wandering around, you will also get to visit three of Perth’s best funky bars in town and enjoy a refreshing drink or two. It’s a great way to meet new people or simply soak up the laid-back vibe with a loved one.

To continue exploring the sights… Head over to Elizabeth Quay for a scenic walk along the Swan River. Take in picturesque views of Perth's skyline as it lights up at dusk and take some photos of the beautiful skyscrapers in the distance. If you're looking for romantic things to do in Perth, this is certainly one for the books!

Day 2: Embrace your creative side in South Perth and Medina

Ease into your day with a botanical watercolour painting class

Watercolour painting

After a night of street art and bar hopping, your second day in Perth ought to be more relaxing, which is why a watercolour painting class is next on your list. Watercolour painting is the perfect way to start your morning and you can have fun painting colourful flora at the South Perth Learning Centre. Here, you’ll be set up with a large table graced with a variety of colours waiting to be mixed and matched and individual painting stations to work at your own pace.

Ready to get creative? Your class will be led by Tania Daymond, an experienced artist who has loved drawing since she was just a kid, meaning you can relax even further knowing you're in expert hands. Tania will introduce you to the gentle art of watercolour painting, from colour mixing to capturing the beauty of botanical flora on paper. Finish up feeling refreshed and take home some unique artworks to remember the morning by.

To recharge before your next class… Stop by Halo Espresso on Angelo Street! They offer delicious, hearty dishes perfect for breakfast and lunch, and plenty of coffee and tea to treat yourself to. Tip: Try the crispy chicken baos for a spicy kick!

Continue your creative afternoon at a colourful tile glazing class

It’s time to head on a 40-minute scenic drive to Medina for the afternoon. Known for its leafy parks and its peace and quiet, Medina is the perfect place to spend a creative afternoon and learn the art of star tile glazing. Step inside Laybrinth Tile Studios in their large warehouse and meet your lovely teachers, who will guide you throughout the ceramic glazing process.

First, you’ll learn all about this Spanish star tile glazing technique, otherwise known as Cuenca, and then you can have plenty of time to mix and match your designs to create a star constellation. With plenty of refreshments and a grazing platter provided, you can simply munch on some snacks and create with your loved ones by your side.

To wind down after your class… Make your way over to Rockingham Beach, where you can head on a seaside walk, take in the scenic views of the beach and if you’d like, even go for a swim in glittering blue waters!

Day 3: Spend a wholesome Sunday in Kewdale and East Victoria Park

Spend a mindful morning at a tufting class

Tufting

What better way to finish up the long weekend than with a mindful tufting class! Tufting is a hands-on and unique way to create custom rugs from scratch—after all, it’s trending for a reason. Not only is it a creative and fun activity but it’s also a fantastic stress reliever, allowing you to enter a mindful state of flow.

Intrigued? Head to Tufting Club in Kewdale, Perth’s first tufting studio, and find yourself mesmerised by their rainbow collection of yarn and a range of vibrant tufted pieces on the wall. You’ll be set up with your own tufting frame and will be guided by a friendly expert so you can shoot yarn into your own unique design! We recommend bringing a photo or two for inspiration so your teacher can really help you bring your vision to life. Whether you want to recreate cartoon characters or tuft a portrait of your pet dog, the possibilities are endless!

To discover new sights and food in Perth… Head to Kewdale and East Victoria Park—home to some of the most delicious local food in Perth. Plus, they are both lovely and quiet places to visit, with great parks, making it the perfect place for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Start off with a visit to Tomato Lake, which is only a short walk from the tufting class, where you can visit this large green sanctuary and walk around the whole lake in just under an hour.

Once you have had your fill of nature exploration, take an eight-minute drive to one of Kewdale's vibrant local markets. Located at East Victoria Park, the Swansea Street Markets are a must-visit for every foodie. With local produce and delicious street foods, it is the perfect place to sample Perth's culinary delights. From farm-fresh vegetables and fruits to mouth-watering pastries and artisan cheeses, your tastebuds will certainly be satisfied by the end of the trip.

So, there you have it! Your local guide to the best creative things to do in Perth. No matter if it’s your first time visiting or if you’ve lived here your whole life, it’s clear that this vibrant city has a whole lot more to offer than meets the eye!
