Meditation - Breathwork - Hypnosis - Integration Workshop
About the event.
Join psychologist, Matt and psychotherapist, Boris for a transformative experience that integrates the power of altered states with modern psychological theory and practise to explore the three levels of psyche/consciousness. In this unique event, the two holistic therapists combine the practices of meditation, breathwork, hypnosis, and Integration, to experience the fullness of the body, mind, and soul/spirit. This event offers a unique opportunity to enhance personal evolution and growth. Learn to sit as the witness to your own mind, work through emotional blockages, explore the aspects of your higher self, and connect authentically with others to deepen your awareness of the unconscious and unseen realms. And even more importantly, the aspect that is often missing in altered states experiences is the patient process of integrating peak experiences and big emotions back into the identity with someone safe, containing, knowledgeable, and understanding. You will be assisted and guided by the two therapists in making sense of the profound experience to apply meaning to your relationships and personal endeavours.
Further benefits include;
· Stress management
· Breaking through depressive states
· Increase mental and physical endurance
· Strengthening your respiratory system
· Discovering inner peace
· Achieving higher states of consciousness
· Rewriting negative subconscious beliefs
About the hosts.
Boris Walter
Boris is a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and meditation facilitator running a private practice in Perth. He holds a Bachelor of Psychology and Counselling, and a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy from Edith Cowan University. He also holds a trade certificate as a boilermaker, and prior to university, he worked FIFO in mining and offshore as a boilermaker/coded welder. His academic research area is altered states of consciousness, parapsychology, philosophy, metaphysics, and spirituality. His private practice balances meditation and hypnotherapy with conventional talk therapy. As a consequence of altered states, he has unlocked stuck energy (trauma and old negative beliefs) and deep subconscious realms of parapsychological phenomena - past lives, psychic abilities, mediumship, and peak experiences. He has helped many find themselves amongst the chaotic noise of this busy world by further facilitating guided group hypnotic meditations out of We Gather Studio, Morley every Sunday fortnight.
"I want people to remember who they are, underneath all the characters they created for survival in this busy world of demands and expectations. When the noise turns off, unconditional love awaits. This is where you find your truth."

Matthew has completed numerous trainings and is trained in trauma and/or addictions focused therapies such as IFS (Internal Family Systems), EMDR, Somatic Psychotherapy and Schema Therapy. He has completed the essential trainings in CBT, DBT and ACT therapies as well. Currently Matthew works in his own private practice in Applecross and sees clients individually, supervises up and coming psychologists and psychotherapists and is conducting groups such as this current event.
"I've worked in the mental health field (including hospital settings) for the past 6 plus years. I have seen both the benefits and deficits of the current system. My wish is, and likely will always be, to improve treatments available to people and to improve people’s experience with and outcomes from treatment from the health care field”
What is meditation?
Meditation is an ancient mindful practice that has increasingly gained notoriety in mental health treatment over the recent years. It has demonstrated significant improvements with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other clinical and personality disorders. By combining breath with bodily focus, one can regulate both heart rate and brain activity for more stability and rhythm. A stable and rhythmic heart and brain gives an individual more clarity over a busy mind and relaxation over a tense body: the conditions of stress that is prevalent in our busy lifestyles. With mental clarity and a peaceful body, better decisions are made, relationships are easier, ailments reside, and self-knowledge is attainable. Being guided through meditation helps those that struggle to focus and allows experienced meditators to achieve increased depth.
Meditation is characterised by deep states of focus. The deeper one can focus, the more access and control one has over bodily and mind functioning. Boris is trained in advanced meditation techniques and hypnotherapy. He combines knowledge and benefits from both into one practice for a deeper experience of Self. He has a master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and has refined his techniques in private practice over the last 3 years with a wide range of mental health conditions. His voice is naturally baritone and induces relaxation quicker than most guided meditation facilitators.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique that uses suggestion to relax and focus a person's mind. It involves inducing a trance-like state in which the person is more open to suggestion and can access deeper levels of their subconscious mind.
In a therapeutic setting, a trained therapist guides the individual into a state of relaxation and focuses their attention on specific thoughts or experiences. During this time, the therapist may suggest ways for the individual to overcome negative thoughts or behaviours or help them access repressed memories or emotions. Hypnosis can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, phobias, addiction, and chronic pain. It is often used in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches in psychotherapy. It's important to note that hypnosis is not a form of mind control, and the individual remains in control of their thoughts and actions throughout the process. They can choose to accept or reject any suggestions offered by the therapist, and they will always be able to return to a normal state of consciousness at any time.
What is breathwork?
Modern breathwork is largely based and built on Dr Stanislav Groff’s pioneering work with altered states. His work with non ordinary states of consciousness began in the 50’s with the use of psychedelics (LSD) and continues to this day with utilising the breath (holotropic breathwork) to elicit non ordinary states of consciousness. The term "holotropic" is derived from the Greek words "holos" meaning whole, and "trepein" meaning moving toward or becoming. Thus, holotropic means "moving toward wholeness" or "becoming whole." In the context of Holotropic Breathwork, the term is used to describe the process of accessing non-ordinary states of consciousness in order to facilitate personal transformation, healing, and spiritual growth.
Many different forms and styles of breathwork have been developed from this, but all typically use a method of breath which saturate the body with oxygen and elicit some form of response from the autonomic nervous system.
The aim of such work is to help individuals connect with their inner selves and access deeper levels of awareness and consciousness, heal trauma, and ultimately lead to a greater sense of wholeness and integration.
What is integration?
Broadly, integration refers to the process of incorporating or making sense of experiences, insights, and changes that arise from altered states of consciousness, therapy, and/or other transformative practices, into one's overall sense of self and life. It involves synthesizing new understandings, emotions, and behaviors with existing beliefs and values, in order to create a more coherent and integrated sense of identity.
When focusing more specifically on integration within altered states work, the importance lies in the fact that these experiences can be very powerful, transformative, and quite challenging to our current emotional, psychological and spiritual belief structures. So without proper and wisely guided integration, they may not lead to lasting change or may even cause distress or confusion. Proper integration helps individuals not only make sense of their experiences, but learn to embody them, allowing a more holistic and full incorporation of what they have learned and ability this to their daily lives and relationships. Integration done well supports psychological growth and healing, as well as enhances resilience, creativity, and well-being. Therefore, integration is a crucial component of any transformative process and a key aspect of personal and spiritual development.
