This Blue Mountains experience includes transfer to and from selected locations in Sydney, a guided bushwalk and a scenic twilight tour of iconic locations followed by a night walk and stargazing.

  • Begin your midweek Blue Mountains experience with a pickup from selected Sydney CBD locations at midday.
  • Then travel by minibus for 1 hour to the edge of the Blue Mountains and stop off at a local village for a short rest before travelling another 45 minutes higher in the mountains to enjoy a guided bushwalk in the World Heritage area at Wentworth Falls. You’ll be immersed in the beauty of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and surrounded by the smell of eucalyptus and tea tree in the crisp mountain air.
  • Visit Echo Point at twilight with postcard-worthy shots of Mount Solitary and the Three Sisters, you’ll also have some time to enjoy snacks you may have brought with you, or local produce you may have purchased earlier in the day.
  • Explore the majestic Blue Mountains at Katoomba Falls by night, on a guided 30-min night walk.
  • Return to Wentworth Falls and embark on a mesmerising stargazing experience led by an astronomer. Sip a complimentary hot chocolate while gazing at the stars, listening to constellation storytelling and viewing celestial objects through our telescope and binoculars—with waterfall sounds.

Return to Sydney with our transport included and you will be back in Sydney by around 21:30.

Please note that the transport and day walks are managed by another tour operator. Blue Mountains Stargazing is only running the stargazing part.

In the event of wet weather:

In the event of cloudy skies, Blue Mountains Stargazing will offer an alternative 90-min indoor Planetarium Astronomy tour located in a closed venue in Leura. This tour is replacing the stargazing tour and starts at the same initial time. It is a captivating indoor astronomy experience led by an astronomer, taking place inside a 360-degrees dome with a powerful projector, immersive astronomy software and recliner chairs. The hot chocolates are also included.

No refunds or credit will be issued due to bad weather.

Please note that we need a minimum of 8 participants to be able to operate. We will refund you if we do not meet the minimum.

At age 8, Dr Dimitri Douchin declared “I want to be an astrophysicist”. He studied Physics and Fundamental Physics in Paris then left his French hometown to start his PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics which he received in 2014 in Sydney, Australia.
He boasts 10 years of guide experience at prestigious astro-tourism organisations, University of Canterbury Mount John Observatory in Lake Tekapo, New Zealand; Macquarie University; Sydney Observatory; at the ultra-luxury Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley, Blue Mountains.
Dimitri is currently Adjunct Fellow at Western Sydney University researching how various people around the world study the sky—a new and trendy science known at Cultural Astronomy. He is investigating the potential significance of the Sky for the local Indigenous communities in the Blue Mountains area in collaboration with the communities, as well as exploring the potential of satellite imagery for local archaeoastronomy.
With his fiancée Caroline, he is running stargazing tours under the UNESCO World Heritage Blue Mountains’s dark skies, 1h30 from Sydney in Australia, with dramatic escarpment and valley views as a backdrop. The couple also runs bespoke events such as Wine Tasting Stargazing and Dinners Under The Stars.
