Join Chris for a hands-on cooking class in Perth where you’ll learn to prepare traditional Transylvanian dishes. Discover the secrets of hearty stuffed cabbage rolls, rich dips and spreads and sweet pastries and celebrate Transylvanian culture through food.
Among the dishes we will make in this class are ‘Sarmale’, the famous stuffed cabbage rolls that are traditionally cooked by every family for significant celebrations. These will be served with the famous ‘upside-down’ polenta that is traditionally cut without a knife.
You will also learn how to make rich dips and spreads like charred eggplant caviar and Transylvanian white bean hummus with caramelised onion. During this class, we will cook two of Chris' favourite childhood dishes – zucchini fritters with garlic sauce and her mother’s famous pumpkin walnut pie.
We invite you to not only learn the techniques of Transylvanian cooking but also to savour the stories woven into the class through the universal language of food.
Cooking class details:
  • This cooking class comprises one part demonstration, one part hands-on and one part dinner where you get to taste all the recipes
  • Coffee/tea are available throughout the class
  • Afternoon tea treats are provided as part of the class
  • The cooking class will last approximately 2.5 hours
