Wheel Throwing
In this wheel throwing class, you will be introduced to the world of clay and learn the art of creating beautiful vessels on the pottery wheel. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, this six-week workshop has something for everyone to enjoy and learn and treasure forever. Over the span of the 6 weeks, numerous different techniques will be explored including handle making, Neriage, lids and jars, mugs and plates, and even vases.
Students will learn the following:
  • The wheel throwing process
  • The prep process (cutting and wedging)
  • Trimming and glazing
  • Firing and loading kiln process (optional for students)
During the class, you will receive expert guidance and techniques from our experienced potter and pottery teachers. You'll have the opportunity to work with numerous mixed clay bodies, exploring different textures and techniques to create stunning pottery pieces to use and showcase in your own home.
At the start of the course, you will have the option to take home a pottery wheel for the first four weeks to practise what you have learned at home. A small deposit fee of $100 is required to pay in store, which will be returned to you at the end of week four. Join us for this amazing opportunity to learn the art of wheel throwing.
Over the span of six weeks, we will dive into the fine details of wheel throwing, both on and off the wheel. You will have access to all the necessary tools to bring your creations to life. And don't worry about glazing your pots, it's included in the price!
Now, for the exciting part! At the end of the workshop, you will take home not only the knowledge and skills to further develop your pottery talents but also the following:
Below are some functional ideas of what students could make throughout the 6 weeks
  • Butter Bell/French Butter Churn
  • Marbled incense holder with lid
  • garlic grinders
  • egg yolk separators
  • large bowls
  • mugs with handles
  • jar/urn
  • Large Vase
  • chip & dip bowl
These wheel-thrown pieces will be a testament to your newfound skills and boundless creativity.
We understand that starting something new can be intimidating, especially for beginners. But fear not! This class is beginner-friendly, and we'll make sure you feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process. We highly suggest you check out our "Beginners Intro Wheel Throwing" class before you jump into this one to ensure a cohesive and engaging learning environment. However, as our classes/workshops are small and intimate, it makes for a better one-on-one teacher-to-student experience.
So why wait any longer? If you've ever been fascinated by wheel throwing on social media or have a lingering interest in clay, now is the perfect opportunity to start or continue your journey. Join us for this transformative six-week workshop and unleash your inner potter!
