About Andrea – The Man Behind the Pizza
His passion for Roman-style woodfired pizza began in his hometown of Rome, Italy, where he learned the time-honoured techniques of dough making, hand-stretching, and achieving the perfect crispy crust.
After immigrating to Australia, Andrea introduced Roman-inspired pizzas to Queensland, selling his creations at Miami Marketta. He eventually relocated to Melbourne, and started making and selling pizzas out of a small shipping container—quickly earning a loyal local following. As demand grew, so did the space needed to provide for his customers! In 2020, he opened his very own restaurant: Ciccio Pizza in Pascoe Vale, bringing a slice of Rome to an unsuspecting suburb with his dedication to quality, Italian tradition, and exquisite flavour.
Andrea’s love for pizza goes beyond making it—he’s passionate about teaching others the craft. Whether it’s sharing the history of pizza, demonstrating the perfect dough stretch, or firing up the woodfire oven, Andrea brings an infectious energy and deep knowledge to every class. His goal? To inspire others to appreciate the beauty of simple, high-quality ingredients and the magic of traditional pizza-making.

I’ve always been passionate about pizza. I was raised in Rome, Italy and was mesmerised by the wood fired pizzas that I saw chefs creating, and always knew I wanted to do the same. In 2014, a few years after moving to Australia, I started making pizzas at local markets. We started small, making roughly 20 pizzas per day out of a trailer with our portable wood fire oven - as business grew, so did the space we needed to cater to our customers. Since then, I have opened Ciccio Pizza in Pascoe Vale and have been feeding our local community since 2020! Our Roman inspired wood fired pizzas have become a beloved staple of the locals, and I love to pass on my knowledge and passion through teaching others our methods of creating the perfect pizza!
