4 x 5 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests       $609

In this hands-on leadlight stained glass course, you’ll learn the essential techniques needed to create your own leadlight glass panel. The course covers glass cutting, leading, soldering, and finishing techniques such as cementing and polishing. Through a combination of demonstrations and practical exercises, you’ll develop confidence in each step of the process.
To accommodate workspace limitations, panel sizes are restricted to 450mm x 450mm. Depending on your chosen design, some homework may be required.
Guided by an experienced tutor with over 20 years of expertise in leadlight stained glass, you’ll gain a strong foundation in the craft. You’re encouraged to explore leadlight window designs and stained glass inspiration, whether online or locally, to spark creative ideas for your project.
The first two sessions are essential, covering the key techniques for creating a leadlight panel. You’ll learn how to cut glass and construct a small practice panel using the provided glass and lead, building the skills needed for your main project.
For those looking to further develop their skills, re-enrolment opportunities are available. This course focuses on leadlight panel construction and does not include copper foil techniques, glass painting, or kiln-fired glass methods.
Please note the following:
  • To ensure your safety in class when cutting glass, please note your tutor might need to stand close.
  • You will need to attend the first two sessions to get the most out of the course. They are the most important sessions to learn what is needed to complete a panel well.
  • Tools can be purchased at Australian Stained Glass Supplies
  • Anyone in open-toed shoes will not be permitted to continue in the class.
  • An apron or a throw-over shirt would be a good idea.
  • Be prepared to get a little messy.
  • You cannot take or borrow the tools and equipment from the college. If you require the use of the equipment in between classes, you can contact us, and we can make arrangements for you to be able to use space and equipment to help you progress further with your work
  • Repairs and restoration of old windows are not taught in this class. We do not cover copper foil, paint on glass, or kiln-fired glass.

Knowledge required
This course is ideal for beginners with no prior experience. However, it is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals due to the use of lead in the materials. Additionally, the course is designed for participants aged 18 and over.
*Please note that Sessions 1 and 2 are the most important classes, as they cover crucial information about safety and glass cutting.
What you'll get
