What you'll do

Love to make jewellery but stumble at the soldering hurdle? It's a common problem.

In this intensive workshop, we strip your soldering back to basics, using simple equipment that you can easily access and use at home, using hand torches and take you through the techniques to achieve basic soldering joins to take your jewellery to the next level.

In this class we cover:

Materials, tools, what findings work for each job, measuring, planning, cutting and making.

By the end of this session, you should have a collection of your own hand made findings for various jobs ready to go.

You will learn basic soldering techniques by demonstration and then repetitive soldering practice by soldering all of your findings that you made in the previous session.

By the end of the course, you should be able to successfully make your own simple findings for most jobs and solder then together.

All of the materials are provided in the cost of the course, you just need to wear comfortable clothing and bring an apron.

Some jewellery making experience is a real help in this course- but not essential. If you book for this course and have no making experience at all- please contact us to let us know.

My name is Eran Naylor and I am a self taught goldsmith, designer and teacher. I have my own label, a working studio in Melbourne and also run a jewellery school with in person classes and online jewellery classes. I started making jewellery over 25 years ago and have progressed from there as creating jewellery became more and more of a passion

I started off beading gemstones and wire wrapping jewellery pieces to saw piercing and then onto lost wax carving work, teaching myself and learning to solder along the way. I am proof that you can make it on your own and work it out as you go but I made a lot of mistakes along the way with no internet or short classes available today and I aim to help you avoid those same mistakes and give you a good solid base for making jewellery with wax.

I started teaching eight years ago after helping a few friends with their skills and realised how much I have to offer, especially in lost wax carving. Over a thousand students later, I have expanded the course range and now offer you these online jewellery courses to practice at home anywhere in the world at your own pace.

I continue to work now as a bespoke goldsmith and miss the days when I could just sit for hours playing with wax. This is the best way to learn. I find that teaching and helping others makes up for my personal lack of creative time now and is so enjoyable that it more gives back. All of my students know that I love nothing more than talking jewellery and am always available to help.
