What you'll do

I’m so glad you are able to join me for my latest workshop!

This one is about using the insect world to inspire a unique lino print. You pick your favourite slug, bug or insect, and I will show you how to turn it into a quirky art piece. You can go for realistic, use it to create a repeat pattern, or do what I do and create your own bug-like creatures!

Don't worry if your drawing skills aren't up to scratch, I'll help you with finding the right image, developing your design, and getting the right composition.

What to expect:

Together we will workshop your design, working on a lino plate.
You will be guided on how to use lino carving tools and printmaking inks to create your own unique design that you will want to frame! The nature of my classes is quite intimate (up to 6 students per class), and I will be teaching and guiding you throughout the class.
You will draw your design, and I will show you how to transfer it onto the lino plate.
Most of the class will be spent carving the lino.
We will then print your designs onto paper or card so you have pieces to take home.
My aim is to educate and empower you to create something you will be proud of.

No prior experience necessary, all you will need is enthusiasm and a fun attitude.

BYO refreshments. If you choose to BYO alcohol, please be responsible and limit your consumption to 2 drinks as we are using sharp lino cutting tools, and you will likely be driving home. The focus is on the art.

Please arrive at 3:15pm for meet and greet, and we will start the class by 3:30pm. We aim to finish the class by 6:30pm.

Hi, I’m Carley, a mixed media artist specialising in printmaking from the South West of Western Australia, currently living and creating in Fremantle.

I create travel-inspired lino prints. My creations showcase eccentric, imaginative characters, each with its own identity and story. I love to mix my own colours, create my own repeat patterns and bring in collage elements to make my designs pop!

I capture my initial concept ideas in my travel journal and refine them when I get home to my studio (currently Stackwood Studios). I then transfer my design onto a lino plate and turn them into stamps of all shapes and sizes.
